Do goats eat medusahead?
Yes, with expert timing — this one's a specialist's job.

Medusahead is one of California's nastiest rangeland invaders: a high-silica annual grass that livestock avoid once it matures, forming thatch that chokes out everything else and carries fire. Untargeted grazing barely touches it — which is exactly why targeted grazing, timed precisely, is one of the few tools that works.
UC researchers have shown that concentrated grazing during the short boot-to-early-heading window — before the seed heads harden — can significantly reduce medusahead cover and seed production. That means high stocking density, tight timing, and a herder who knows the plant. It's the clearest case in the plant library where who manages the graze matters as much as the animals.
