California's annual grasses — wild oats, bromes, foxtails — are the "flashy fuels" that ignite first and carry fire fastest. Goats eat grass, but as browsers they treat it as the side dish; sheep, true grazers, mow it low and even as the main course.
This is why we run both animals: on a property with grassy flats and brushy slopes, a mixed herd handles each layer with the right specialist. For pure grass — fields, orchard rows, solar sites — ask about our sheep. For grass mixed with anything woody, spiny, or poison-oak-flavored, the goats earn their keep.
